Training Schedule Winter/Spring 2001

Manchester Velodrome

Alan Edmondson will once again be organising Manchester Velodrome club track sessions through the winter and spring. He ran three great sessions in the Autumn. The next session will be Saturday March 5th. 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

This date was the only one on offer before Spring. Alan shall try to get the usual Sunday morning dates for October, November and December when the bookings are open for these dates. In the meantime would you please let him have your booking for this session in March as soon as possible.

Ron's 'Reliable Five' Reliability Trial Series 2011

For the keen road ride this year's details are as follows: Note, these reliability rides are not organised by Leeds Mercury CC but some of our riders may be interested in participating.

HEADQUARTERS Start and Finish - Squires Café Bar, 1.5 miles west of Sherburn-in -Elmet on B1222. Car park, refreshments and toilets available.

Choice of routes:

ROUTE 1 - 80km (50 miles) Start 9.30am, Latest finish 1.30pm.
Micklefield - Towton - Tadcaster - Wetherby - Sicklinghall - Harewood Bridge - Weardley - Alwoodley - Shadwell - Thorner - Aberford - Sherburn.

ROUTE 2 - 50km (31 miles) Start 9.45am, Latest finish 12.15pm.
Micklefield - Towton - Stutton - Bramham - Thorner - Aberford - Sherburn.

Route: (80k) Wetherby-Boroughbridge-Ripon-Fountains Abbey-Ripley-Killinghall-Pennypot Lane. To Finish: Norwood Village Hall. (YCF Clubrun). Refreshments available.

Start 0930 B6161(Near Leathley Bridge – approx. ½ mile from A658 junction).

Route: (80k) Leathley-Gated Road-Norwood-Summerbridge-Burnt Yates-Ripon-Boroughbridge. To Finish: Holy Trinity Church Hall, Knaresborough. Refreshments Available.

100 km start 0900: Buttercross (Market Place), Otley. Route:(100km) A65-Ilkley-Addingham-Bolton Abbey- Barden Tower -Appletreewick-Grassington-Kettlewell-Kilnsey-Threshfield-Burnsall-Barden-Bolton Bridge -Addingham-Ilkley-Asquith-to Finish Otley CC Club-room.

50 km start 0930: As above to Barden Bridge (cross river) - Cavendish Cafe-Bolton Abbey-Ilkley-Asquith-Otley Finish Otley CC Club-room.

SUNDAY 6th MARCH 2011 -YORKSHIRE ROAD CLUB- 65 Miles & 30 Miles.

Start:0900: (65ml) Magnet Social Club,Tadcaster (junc.A162 & old A64). Route:Long Marston-Aldwark-Easingwold-Crayke-Helperby-Ouseburn-Cattal-Tadcaster to Finish: as start.

Start:0915: (30ml) Magnet Social Club. Accompanied Ride wait for slowest. Route:Ulleskelf-Cawood-Stillingfleet- Escrick-Wheldrake-Naburn(Cycle Path)-Acaster Malbis-Bolton Percy-Tadcaster(Magnet Club).

Other Training

Saturdays, joint club run Bolton Abbey cafe stop, meet 9:35am Lawnswood. Good level of fitness required.

Sundays - Meet 09:30 Lawnswood for approx 3 hour group ride. Good level of fitness and stamina required. This is a joint clubs ride with plenty of Mercury CC riders. For slightly younger riders there is a cafe stop part way round, for keen adults the ride can be non stop. Route and cafe stop varies from week to week. Younger riders need a good level of fitness and stamina too. If you're not sure which group to join, we recommend Saturdays first.

Tuesdays - Road training, Meet near Brio's Restaurant, Thorpe Park, East Leeds, 7pm

Thursdays - Cyclo Cross Training, East End Park, 7pm
